White Crab Apples

These are the regular crabapple blooms. Just as beautiful as the prairie fires without the drama and flair. I do love how the buds are various shades of pink and magenta but when they open, are totally white. The centers are amazing with their tight light blossom of yellow stamen. If you look closely at the bottom flower, you can see the stamen forms another cluster shape as well. A bonus from Mother Nature, wanted to make sure you saw the beauty!

Hold fast to dreams.....

"Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken winged bird that cannot fly"-Lanston Hughes

Crab Apple Beauty

The prairie fire crabapple is by far one of my favorite trees come spring time. The blossoms are a fiery red magenta that are just a sight to see. Imagine a whole tree covered with this lusciousness and you have the picture, just fantastic. I love it at all the stages but in full bloom it can't be beat. I loved the way the sunlight is dappled around the branches in this photo, adds such a great bright spot of light!

Cherry Bliss

This lovely photo is of our cherry tree, it was spectacular this year! The beautiful colors reminded me of a vanilla and cherry sundae hence the name I have given it, cherry bliss. Knew that would make you smile today. I hope you had a great Memorial Day with family and friends! Continue on with a cherry filled Tuesday...

Backyard Blooms

I just had to share all the wonderful blooming trees in our yard this May. From left prairie fire crabapple, red maple, white crabapple (two of them next to one another) foreground curved hawthorn, lilac to the right. Just a glorious site this year!

Yellow

I love forsythia bushes with all of their happy golden color. It is a welcome sight after the winter greys just seeing it sparkle in the sunlight makes me smile. I am very thankful this year that I finally remembered to take some photos of it. Usually they are on their way out and not as colorful when I try to take it. I loved how the one branch took center stage and stayed in position long enough for me to snap the shot. It is a beautiful color and I really wish it would stay that bright all year long instead it disappears into the background of elusive greenery only to wait for its special time in the spring limelight. Until next year dear friend, I will eagerly be waiting for your appearance!

Holly Nest

The robin's have started gathering, nest building and laying their eggs. It is always a fun little springtime game of mine to find the first one and discover the wonder of the washed light aqua that awaits my gaze. I was fortunate to find just such a treasure today, in our large holly bush. Three little gems are inside and I will be out tomorrow hopefully to get a great snapshot or two. Why is it that they are always just above my head so I have to stand on my toes with the camera in the air? I think it is their way of getting back at me invading their privacy, making me look like a fool for the next couple of weeks. I can take it because the transformation is a treat I await for every spring!

What the heck?

I saw this from a distance, a curtain of lime green just hanging there. Light and color reflecting up and down the large lacy curtains. What the heck? I had to step closer just to see what kind of thing could be making this beautiful sheer bit of color. The weeping willow tree of course, just starting to get its little leaves. Of course, I have the photo turned so you can see the strands a little easier but I even love the texture this way because you really don't understand what it is you are looking at. Had you wondering, didn't I? I know, crazy artist girl LOL
